Representatives Mike Foote and Pete Lee honored me with flattering and humbling remarks on the evening of my memorable last day in the House Chamber. To see and hear excerpts from their speeches go to my Facebook page. Mike and Pete have both endorsed my candidacy for Senate District 31, and I’m proud to have the support of such progressive Democrats who know I always stand with you, the people. It was very gratifying to have Mike and Pete acknowledge my experience and my effective and principled approach to legislation.
Kevin Priola’s presentation to me of a framed copy of TABOR met with great laughter in the Chamber, as all my colleagues know how much I hate that odious amendment to our constitution. I’m thinking of hanging it with the subtitle,
“Public Enemy Number One.”
I hope to continue my fight against TABOR as the senator for Senate District 31, but win or lose I always can be counted on to voice my opposition to that infamous constitutional amendment that hamstrings representative government and makes progressive change far more difficult to achieve.
